About Us

Gul Ahmed's story is the story of textiles in the subcontinent. In the early 1900s, the group began trading in textiles. In 1953, the group entered the manufacturing field with the establishment of today's iconic name, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd. Since its initial public offering on the Karachi Stock Exchange in 1970, the company has made rapid progress and has established a dominant position in the textile industry.

Gul Ahmed is a composite unit, producing everything from cotton yarn to finished products. It has an installed capacity of more than 51,840 spindles, 300 state-of-the-art weaving machines, and the most modern yarn dyeing, processing, and stitching units. Gul Ahmed operates its own captive power plant, which includes gas engines, gas and steam turbines, and backup diesel engines. Gul Ahmed, believing in its role in environmental protection, has also established a waste water treatment plant to treat 100 percent of its effluent, bringing it to NEQS levels.

Gul Ahmed is not only a textile behemoth, but it also has a strong presence in the retail industry. The group's entry into the retail business was marked by the opening of its flagship store, Ideas by Gul Ahmed. Gul Ahmed began in Karachi and has expanded to over 40 retail stores across the country, offering a diverse range of products ranging from home accessories to fashion clothing. Gul Ahmed is still synonymous with quality, innovation, and dependability more than 50 years after its inception.

Spinning

Yarn or the thread used to make fabric can be made using variety of sources like cotton, polyester fiber, viscous fiber, tension fiber, etc. majority of used is cotton. The process of converting Cotton into Yarn is called 'Spinning'. Raw Cotton is collected and transferred into a machine which removes the garbage from cotton. pure cotton is then fed to another machine which makes rolls or bundles of pure cotton. Next machine uses these rolls of cotton to make thread or yarn. All of these machines are automated.  Yarn is being manufactured on spinning machine.

Weaving

After Spinning, Weaving process starts. In Weaving, The thread runs on the machine to make fabric. After Weaving, the fabric is transferred to Processing Department.   Weaving machines are producing fabric from yarn.

Step 1 
Pre Treatment

Singeing machine cleaning the surface of the fabric for further process.

Dyeing

Finishing

Folding Department

After Processing department the fabric is sent to the Folding department for counting and measuring. after this, the fabric is inspected for faults. Fabric with major faults is considered rejected, fabric with minor faults is sent back to processing department for correction, and fabric with no faults is termed as fresh. Fresh fabric is then cut according to desired size and then folded and packed into dispatching material. This packed fabric is then dispatched to the warehouses.

The fabric is delivered to folding department for further process.

Supply Chain

When the packaged material arrives at the warehouse, the team rechecks and reconciles the material. This material is then supplied to all the outlets and distributors to be purchased by the consumer all over Pakistan. The material is also exported for global customers.
